THE PINDER CENTRE CLOSURE Tuesday 15th May 2012
Closure of The Pinder Centre for Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy
It is with great sadness that the Directors of Pinder Centre (Trustees) Ltd, the Trustee of the Pinder Centre, announce that the Centre will close on Friday June 29th 2012. The Directors have reviewed the Centre’s operations and finances, and prospects, over the last 4 years. The operating loss has more than doubled since 2008, and is unsustainable.
The Centre has provided a unique service not available through the NHS for patients with chronic conditions. However, the high operational costs of running the facilities, increased competition in the area, the current economic climate and remote location of the Centre alongside a drop in patient numbers have all affected the financial viability of The Pinder Centre.
It is intended that The Pinder Trust, a separate grant-giving charitable trust (which has provided grants to the Centre over the years) will continue the work of helping the disabled in the area in accordance with the wishes of the late Miss Margaret Pinder, and may also consider the option of making capital grants.
What this means for our patients:
Our last appointment day will be Friday 22nd June 2012. We will do our best to keep any outstanding appointments, however in some cases it may be necessary to move appointment times. We will contact you directly if you are to be affected. If you find an alternative treatment centre before our closure date, please let us know and we will cancel any future appointments otherwise you will be charged.
Alternative treatment centres for Hydrotherapy:
The Directors and management are particularly concerned that patients can find treatment elsewhere. If you attend the Centre for Hydrotherapy other treatment centres are available near Newbury and in Whiteley. Please note that we are not making recommendations for alternative pools, but providing you with the information of some other pools available to use in the local area.
Outstanding payments:
Please bring payment with you for each appointment; any outstanding monies must be paid by 22nd June 2012. Any outstanding pre-payments will be reimbursed if they are not used by the time the Centre closes.
Thank you
We would like to thank everyone who has had contact with The Pinder Centre over the years for your commitment to the Centre and for those donations you have made, without your help we could not have helped as many patients as we have over the past 40 years.
