AQUATIC THERAPY – ESSENTIAL TREATMENT INFORMATION

Further information is provided when you attend

Hydrotherapy at The Pinder
 Centre, Avington, Winchester

If AQUATIC THERAPY(exercises in water) is suggested, the following initial information may help you think about this if you have not experienced it before. NB You do not need to be able to swim to benefit from Aquatic Therapy.

1. The pool is kept at around 96 degrees F (36 degrees C) and feels comfortably warm. There is a shallow end with steps, and a deeper end where the water is chest height for an average adult.

2. Entry into the pool is either by the steps, or by the hoist using the chair or bed, depending on which is most suitable for your level of mobility.

3. If you are having physiotherapy treatment in the pool, your physiotherapist will be in the pool with you.

4. Most patients stay in the pool for 30 minutes; the rest of your session is for changing clothes, and getting showered and dry.
